Marriage must be registered legally in the Personal Status Court( Sharia Court ) , which is competent in matters of personal status in the region
Marriage registration requires:
- An individual Civil Registration Extract for both the fiancé and the fiancée
- A medical certificate for both fiancées stating that they are free from communicable diseases
- Both the fiancé and the fiancée with her guardian go to court
- The clerk of the court writes the marriage contract, including the detailed names of the spouses, the name of the wife’s guardian, the amount of prompt dower and deferred dower, and the names of the two witnesses
- The court employee exchanges affirmative and acceptance terms in the court before the two witnesses
After that, the husband takes a certified copy of the marriage contract to the Personal Status Department in which his civil record is registered and he records on his field that he is married, just as the Civil Registry Department transfers the wife to the husband’s field, and accordingly the husband gets the Family Record Book
With the need to emphasize the registration of all civil status incidents that occur, such as births and deaths
